Accidental Art: Romantic Comedy
This is another romantic comedy project I’ve edited. During the early 2010s, New York was swept up in an indie filmmaking boom, with local film festivals flourishing everywhere. For this project, I aimed to follow a traditional Hollywood narrative editing style and showcase the iconic look of the RED cinema camera that defined the era. My main creative goal was to create a contrast between the highly sophisticated audio-visual style and the film’s simple, slightly silly plot and dialogue. I believe that this balance adds both uniqueness and a pleasantly odd tone, keeping the audience engaged until the end — where the story almost feels like a serious suspense film, yet remains something they can laugh at.
2010年代初頭のニューヨークでは、インディペンデント映画制作が盛り上がり、数多くのローカル映画祭が開催されていました。このプロジェクトでは、伝統的なハリウッドの物語構成と編集スタイルを踏襲しつつ、その時代を象徴するREDシネマカメラの映像美を活かすことを意識しました。私の主な創作テーマは、洗練された視覚・音響表現と、シンプルでどこかくだらないプロットや台詞との対比を生み出すことでした。そのバランスが独自性と心地よい違和感を生み出し、観客を最後まで惹きつける要素になっていると考えています。結果として、物語は一見シリアスなサスペンスのようでありながら、同時に笑える作品に仕上がりました。

ログライン－退屈な主婦の誕生日の浮気が、思いがけない惨事を引き起こす。だがその結末は、壊れた夫婦と血に染まったキャンバスを、“偶然のアート”へと変えてしまう。
